For indulging too freely in alcoholic beverages and for resisting arrest, a Hindu named Sam Sing, a resident of Tuakau, was convicted and fined £1 at the Police Court on Tuesday, before Mr C,. K. Lawrie, J.P.
A monster eel was landed by Mr G. Gordon, of Paerata, from the Paerata creek, near Mr J. Adams’ place, a few nights ago. -The monster-was 5 feet long, 14 inches round the girth,, and 11 inches across -the tail, and it weighed 221bs. r-
We have been asked to correct the report circulated that Shirley, the new Nursing Home, is solely run in the interests of one medical man. This Home is managed by Sisters Corbett, and any patient may have their own medical man to attend them.®
Both the Papakura and Tuakau Town Boards have accepted the Pukekohe Borough Council’s invitation to attend the unveiling ceremony of the Fallen Soldiers’ Memorial •yt the entrance to Roulston Park, which will be performed by the Prime Minister (Rt. Hon. W.. F. Massey) on Sunday next at 2 p.m.

Mr V. A.- Huddlestone, who succeeded. Mr F. H. Brittain as Stock Inspector for this district, had for 10 years filled a similar position in the *Te Kuiti district. He has occupied similar positions at Te Aroha, Blenheim,, and the Wairarapa. _ Mr Huddlestone is a zealous official ot the Stock Department, and already has done good work for his Division.
