SHOCKING ACCIDENT.
TO MR G. THOMAS, At about 5 p.m. on Saturday evening, Mr G. Thomas, a popular and well-known young fellow; employed by Mr J. Patterson as a printer, met with a. really shocking, accident. " He attempted to ride a somewhat spirited horse, which bolted with him and collided with a telegraphpost jn Hall Street, near the Times Office. Mr Thomas was thrown after impact wi£h the post, Witnesses of the accident immediately summonded Dr Campbell-Smith, who had the unconscious man moved to a private hospital, where it was founji that the unfortunate fellow had sustained a compound fracture of •s)© thigh,, a severe laceration over an eye, and numerous other abrasionsYesterday the sufferer was sent to the Auckland Hospital, where he is doing as well as can be expeqted. Many people in the district will remember Mr Thomas’ clever cor.jurjm| performances, given in aid of various deserving objects. Hls parents reside at Dargaville.
