PUKEKOHE BOWLING CLUB.

OPENING DAY,

A RECORD SUCCESS.

Despite adverse weather conditions the official opening of the Pukekohe Bowling Club for 'the season 19211922, on Saturday last, proved to be quite successful. The grounds were gay with bunting. The old and new greens, also the croquet lawn, wereo looking their best, and many lisvbing bowlers, with their lady friends, had braved [the elements to. be present. These visitors were very complimentary in their reference to the improvements effected to the club's property since their last visit. The President (Mr Jas. Roulston), in declaring the green open for play, welcomed the visitors, and thanked them for coming along (to assist in making the opening a success. He also extended) a welcome (to the Pukekohe Brass Band, and thanked, them, on behalf of the club, for coming along to brighten the proceedings with some of their beautiful music. He considered the Band one of the best assqts of the town, and many functions organised for the betterment of the town would be made more successful by the help it appeared so ready and willing ,to give. The prospects for the coming season were particularly bright, The membership now toatls over a hundred and new members were joining every day. The club had a real live committee, who were out to make the season a record one. They had a secretary and treasurer who would see that the inner working of the details ran smoothly, and the caretaker was an expert gardener, who would make the grounds beautiful. The green superintendent was doing his best (to make the green as perfect as possible, but just at present it was giving him rather an anxious time. Mrs Roulston was then called on to throw (the jack, amidst loud applause. Afternoon tea was dispensed by the ladies.
