MARKET REPORTS.

Messrs A. G. Wallace & Co., auctioneers and growers’ agents, Wellington, report:— Moderate supplies of apples and pears at present available, with values firm for best grade fruit, Australian shipments moderating and values finning. Retailers complain of only a limited demand existing, in consequence their output is affected, and since fruit is now at luxury prices a portion of' the public’s buying power is temporarily lost through present economic conditions. Apples.—Delicious : Supplies limited. firm conditioned have good inquiry at 20s to 21s; choice 16s to 18s ; others 12s 6d to 15s. Jonathans : Firm conditioned scarce; fancy 13s |to 15s ; others 10s to 12s. Dougherys : Hastings, well-eoiuored 16s to 16s 6d; Auckland 13s 6d to 15s ; Nelson 13s to 14s ; inferior, 9s to 12s. Sturmers : Demand moderate 13s 6d to 15s ; choice 12s to 13s ; others according to sample and condition 10s to lis ; small, .proportionate rates. Some recent samples of Stunners indicate wastage, and that fruit has been held too long, holders are are advised to carefully examine their cool stored fruit, Yates’, Rome Beaujty, Rhymer, Rokewood and Commerce : Fancy 10s to 12s ; other grades 8s to 9s ; Washington and Dunns: Fancy 12s 6d to 13s 6d; others 11s to 12s. Wolseleys, Ballarats, Rhode Island : Fancy 10s to 11s. Pears—Supplies decreasing. Coles pnd Nelis improving in value. Regular shipping recommended, and half casep acking preferable. Fancy 7s to Bs. half case. Other varieties scarcer for which there is only moderate demand at 9s 6d to 12s bushel. Walnuts—ls 2d,

Hazels—lid, Is lb. Rhubarb—According to sample and size of bunches, 7s 6d to 15s per doz, bunches.

Green peas—Limited quantities during the week caused jadvance temporarily. Values to-day 5s 9d to 7s 6d pecic, according to sample. Asparagus —15s to 18s per dozen bunches.

Potatoes-—New, large, 3d to 4Hd lb, according - to sample. Smaller 2Vod to 3d lb. Old, table Dakotas, 00s ;to 110 s ton, Market will ease with heavier shipments. Onions—Victorian £8 10s ton. Fresh vegetables—ln heavy supply.
