POSTMASTER FAREWELLED.
MR J. H. WATERS RETIRING.
Mr J. H. Waters, who has acted as postmaster at Pukekohe for the last ten years, has retired on superannuation, after forty years’ service. On Thursday, members of the Post and Telegraph staff. assembled to say good-bye to their chief, and on their behalf Mr W. H. Evans, cheif clerk, presented Mr Waters with a pair of bowls, a solid leather bowl case, suitably inscribed, as a mark of the esteem in which he was held. Mr Evans referred in glowing terms to Mr Waters, and eulogised his work, pointing out that he was a most capable official, and his services would bo sadly missed in the Post arid Telegraph Dtpartment. He wished Mr Waters success and proseprity in the future.
Mr C. T. Holden, line foreman, endorsed his colleague’s remarks. The recipient feelingly but suitably responded.
It is Mr Waters’ intention to reside in Pukekohe. Mr A B. Card, of Wellington, is at present relieveing postmaster.
