SUCCESSFUL HORSE SALE.
SOME GREAT PRICES.
On Wednesday and Thursday last, Messrs Alfred Buckland and Sons conducted their spring horse fair at Pukekohe, in the presence of a large attendance of buyers. Messrs C. G. Brookes aind C. W. Hill wielded the hammer in their usual style. Upwards of 400 horses were yarded, including some from Te Kuiti, Taihape, Gisforne and Masterton. Some exceptional values were reached. The top price of the sale was £B2 for an aged gelding on account of H. J. Flay, of Bombay, which was purchased by Mr \V. Dazeley, of Puni. A mare, pn account of the same client fetched £7B. It is said that' the £B2 is ; a record for an aged gelding. Prices realised were : Three-quarter to heavy draugths, £6O to £B2; medium draughts, £35 to £55 ; plough horses, £22 to £4O ; milk cart horses, £lB to £35 ; buggy horses and good backs, £22 to £36 ; cobs, £l4 to £22 10s; Shetland ponies, It is claimed that tills was one of the most successful horse sales yet held in this district.
