OBITUARY.

MRS. G. ROWE.

There passed away at her late residence, Tuakau, on Sunday night last, Mrs Rowe, wife of Mr G. Rowe, of Tuakau. The deceased was 70 years of age, and leaves a very large circle of friends to mourn her. Mr and Mrs Rowe resided in Auckland for over thirty years, and six years ago they came to Tuakau and built a nice residence close to the Waikato river. The interment took place on Tuesday afternoon, and was attended by a large cortege of riends and relatives. Mrs Rowe leaves a family of five sons and five daughters, and twenty-three grand-children. The family are : Mr James Rowe, of the Customs Department, Auckland, Mr David Rowe, Waiuku, Mr William Rowe, Pcpakura, Mr Chas. Rowe, Auckland, Mr Ted. Rowe, Auckland, Mrs T. W. Lapwood, Tuakau, Mrs Percy Lapwood, Tuakau, Mrs Percy Collins, Tuakau, Mrs J. Carter, Auckland, Mrs Alf. Connolly, Hamilton.

mus fasnseMy worth. Another of the early settlers of Franklin, Mrs Fanny Worth, died at the residence of her daughter, Mrs W. Adams, Harrington Avenue, Pukekohe, last Friday, aged 90 years. Born in Buckinghamshire, England, Mrs Worth arrived at Auckland with her husband by the ship Lancashire Witch in 1863. An unfortunate experience befell Mr and Mrs Worth soon after their arrival. They were notified by the authorities that their In acre grant was situated at Whangaroa. They proceeded to that district and had built a house when they were notified that a mistake had been made the land being privately owned, and they were compelled to leave. They were then almost penniless, having spent all their funds in connection with the erection of their house. Subsequently they were given a ten-acre grant at Mauku, where Mrs Worth resided until about ten years ago, since when she had resided with her daughter, Mrs Adams. Mr Worth died about 28 years ago. Although suffering from a physical disability, Mrs Worth enjoyed good health until a few days before her death, passing away quietly in her sleep. She is survived by one son, Mr W. Worth, builder, of Grey Lynn, and three daughters, Mrs P. T. Birch, Eden Terrace, Mrs G. Sndford, Devon ■ port, and Mrs W Adams, Pukekohe. jjlie interment took place at St. Bride’s Cemetery, Mauku, on Saturday, the Rev. J. P. Cowie officiating at the graveside.
