FINED FOR “SCORCHING.” The Pukekohe Borough by-laws sustained a severe fracture on September 10th last, when a youth named Wilferd Green drove a motor car through King Street at a greater speed than 10 miles per hour. The youth, who “scorched” through the main thoroughfare of the headquarters of the Prime Minister, was hailed before the Stipendiary Magistrate. when he pleaded guilty. As he was a “first offender,” a nominal fine of 10s and an order to pay 7s costs of t'ouit was impose?.
