SPRING FLOWERS.

. A MAGNIFICENT DISPLAY. ST. JAMES’ SHOW. The eighth annua’ Spring Flower Show under the auspices of St. James Presbyterian Church was held in the Franklin A. and P. Society’s Winter Show buildings on Friday and Saturday last, and from all points of view was a The exhibitss of daffodils were tne outstanding feature, both numerically and as regards duality, there being some magnificent blooms.. Several well known outside growers competed in the open classes, among these being Messrs H.B. J. Bull, Marriner and Findlay, of Auckland. The principal local exhibitors were Messrs Roulston and Afiian. The finest specimens came in for general admiration, but there was general excellence in tne standai d ox the whole of the exhibits. On Friday afternoon the show was officially opened by the Mayor of Pukekohe (Mr John Routly), wiio congratulated the promoters and exhibitors on the excellence of the show. He also acknowledged the hard work the various officials had pot in, in preparing for the event. The attendance at all sessions was large, and general admiration was expressed at the quality of the exhibits. The various classes were wed iiilecl r.nd there was some close competition. . f There were some fine specimens ot flowers on exhibition only by Mr H. Erett, of Auckland (sweet peas), Mrs J. T. Cowan. Pukekohe (cyclamen>„ Mrs Daysh. Pukekohe, (cinerarias), Mr J. Collins, of Takapuna (tulips). A number of stalls were arranged in a building apart from the display of exhibits, and all were well stoekeu. with goods for sale. Business was 4 indeed brisk at times. The stalls and holders are as Lollies and soft drinks, Mesdames Ward, Whiteford* Gill and Meiklejohn ; cake, Mesdames S- McNally, Clarkson, Misses Miller and M. McNally ; produce, Mesdames G. Ingram, Feist and Miss Wright; novelty, Mrs Dave Roulston, Misses Fraser and Fitness ; work, Mes dames \V. T. Jones, H. Stuart, and Miss Rowles ; tea, Mesdames G. Blake, J. Crosbie, J. Roulston, E. Appleby, Morrison, assisted by Mesdames B. Hart, F. Faucett, Misses K. and Belle Stuart; bran tub, Mrs Feist and Sunday School teachers. COMPETITIONS. Numerous competitions were held and resulted : Wedding cake, correct weight 51b 7 oz, A. Cowie 510 /oz; Mrs E. Hamilton (Paerata), olb sos. In the draw Mr Cowie was successful. Birthday cake, correct weight, 41b 130 z., Mr J. Hooey, 41b 14oz, Messrss A. L. Gosden 41b 120 z., R. Newman 41b 12 oz, Mr Mcllroy 41b 12oz. In the draw. Mr Gosden won. Rooster and duck, Mr A.
