TUHIMATA.
Once again Ballards’ barn was 'the scene of gaiety and pleasure, when a dance was given by Mr and Mrs Shqrpe and. the Ping Pong Club. There wer-e about one hundred and twenty guests present, and soon after eight, o clock dancing commenced. A “Song Evening” was also included in ’the nights pleasure, and the successful winner of the prize (which was a handsome cake dish) was Mrs Bayliss. A dainty supper was partaken of. and* many were the exclamations of the pretty decorations of the supper room. The table was done in pale pink- sweet peas and stocks. Overhead were hanging ferns and around the room evergreens, daffodils, Chinese lanterns and ‘ trappings. During the evening Mr George (on behalf of the guests); thanked Mr and Mrs Sharpe and the club members for the able ana generous manner in which they had entertained their guests. Appreciation. wa. : shown by acclamation a.nd sing* ino- “For they are iolly good fellows, followed by three cheers. Mroharpe responded and thanked Mr BallaiA for the use of the piano, and Mr Robinon for the barn. It was not until two o’clock that the last of the guests had wished their host and hostess “good-bye.”
