VISIT OF BISHOP AVERILL.
St. Andrews Church, Pukekohe, was crowded to the doors on Saturday afternoon last, when the Right Rev. Dr. Aver ill, Bishop of Auckland, administered the apostolic rite of confirmation. Sixteen in all were confirmed. The Bishop delivered two very helpful addresses. He held the attention of the large congregation. Immediately after this service an adjournment was made’ to the new church site next door, where the memorial arch and gates recently erected by Mr R. Bilkey, were unveiled. The proceedings opened with the presentation of a petition by the Vicar and Churchwardens for a faculty for the memorial. The Bishop thereupon granted and read the faculty, and proceeded with the service. The unveiling was performed by Mr Bilkey, who said “To the Glory of God, and in memory of the men of this district who made the great sacrifice, we unvel this memorial, in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. Amen.’
