At the last meeting of the particular local body a letter was received pointing out there was no wonder the complainant could not get his car out because he could not drive it, and his chaffeur (his daughter) was an inmate of a hospital.

Some time ago numerous complaints were received by the Manukm County Council regarding the number of cattle straying m the roads throughout the County." The Council decided to appoint a ranger, with the object of keeping the roads clear, and judging from his monthly reports he is doing great work. At Tuesday’s meeting the ranger, Mr J. P. Brown, reported that during August he had impounded 196 head of cattle (including 54 from the Fakirranga Riding) and had collected fees amounting to £9 3s. This is indeed a good haul.
