ENTERTAINMENTS.
STKAiM© THEATRE. , TO-MORROW (SATURDAY). “Pattricia..Brent, Spinster,” screening at the Strand, is adapted from the most popular book written during tije war. It is well-nigh impossible to reproduce in a summary the peculiar charm which made this story famous. It concerns the career of a good-looking, intelligent young lady who endured life in a Bloomsbury boarding house. Her companions are an odd lot and mostly past the age of romance. They taunt her for not having a fiancee and she invents one. Unfortunately they follow her to the Quadrant grill room, and she is forced to throw herself on the mercy of an officer and occupies the empty seat at his table. She confesses everything to him and afterwards bids bins good-bye. She finds, however, that it is easier to get a fiance than to lose one. The film features an air raid with its drama and grim spectacle, and the producer has also revealed the lighter side of this incident with good effect.
