EAST STREET BRIDGE.

NECESSARY ALTERATIONS. At Monday’s meeting of £he Borough Council, it was reported that the Railway Department was about to commence work in connection with alterations to the bridge in East Street, and that it was the intention to merely widen the approach. Cr. Daylsh contended that it would be a waste of money to merely widen the approaches. They wanted , the bridge widened. The Mayor said he had written to the authorities protesting against the proposal to widen the appi ouches. He, too, like Cr. Daysh, contended the bridge should be widened. The Council was under the impression the bridge was to be altered to be a chain wide. The Mayor’s action was approved.
