DR. JYIILSOM WINS JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIP. CAPTAIN’S PRIZE TOURNEY FINAL. COLBECK DEFEATS _HALES. The first round of match play in. connection with the club championship of the Auckland Golf Club was decided at the Middlemore links, Mangere, recently. Weather conditions were excellent and the course was in splendid order. Results were :— H. B. Lusk beat C. F. Gardner 8 up and? to play, F. G. Binney beat D. MacCormick 2 up and 1 to play; R. Rainger beat R. O. Gordner 6 up and 5 to play, W. B. Colbeck beat D. G. Macfarlane, 2 up and 1 to play. In the final for the junior championship Dr. Milsom beat S. J. Hanna 5 up and 4 to play. Dr. Milsom was in good form and gave a sound exhibition of golf. He did the round in 89, which, with his handicap of 16, enabled him also to win the medal competition with a net score of 73. During the week the final of the captain’s prize tourney was played between W. B. Colbeck (handicap 4): and E. O. Hales (9), the former gaining the victory, 5 up and 4 to play. Col beck’s display was commendable. He was 4 down at the sixth, but was all square at tiie turn, and he never looked like losing the match.
