HIGH SCHOOL AND SPORTS.
RAILWAY CONCESSION GRANTED. SEASON TICKETS MAY BE USED ON SATURDAYS. Quite a number of pupils attending the local High School regularly take part in football matches held at Pukekohe and elsewhere. Several of the players have to travel on the railways and in the past have paid their fares. With the object of obtaining permission from the Railway Department to allow pupils travelling to play football and other games, to use their school season tickets, the headmaster, Mr W. F. J. Munro, wrote to the district traffic manager, Auckland, recently and received the following reply:—■ “ I am in receipt of your letter of July 26, and in reply have much pleasure in advising that on presentation of a certificate duly signed by you. holders of school season tickets may be allowed to travel on their tickets on Saturdays to take part in recognised school games. This concession is to apply to those pupils actually (not onlookers) taking part in the ganje. In connection with the '(.16 a.rn. Mercer-Pulcekohe train, this matter is now being looked into with' a view to overcoming delays in its running.—(Signed) A. H. O’Loughlin, District Traffic Manager.
