PLUNKET SOCIETY.
mOsMTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting cf the Franklin Plunket Society was held in the County offices on August 9. The president occupied the chair and there was a good attendance of members. Several letters were read, among them one from Miss Pattrick, Director of Plunket Nursing, and one from Mr Routly. Miss Pattrick wrote for further particulars concerning the needs of the district and also wrote that the Plunket Nurse would commence duties in about a 'month’s time frem the date of her letter. The pres'dent reported that the president and secretary of the Tuakau Committee had reported very satisfactory progress. They wished definitely to know the exact amount that their committee was expected to contribute per year. The secretary reported on the subcommittee meeting. Jit was decided tc accept Mr F. Perkins’ offer of a room for Plunket work rent free for six months. Messrs Waters and Ingpen kindly got 'the room ready and painted it. The following donations towards the furniture were gladly accepted.—Mrs Perkins a settee. Mrs Ward a table, Mrs .Day an electric heater, Mrs Gundy three chairs. Mrs Wylie and Mrs Waters were kindly making the curtains and cushions. It was decided to order the scales, as used by the Karitane Hospital, from Dunedin. A discussion then took place concerning’ an adjunct to the rest room, •as suggested in Mr Rcutiys letter. Nothing definite was reached and it was decided to ask two members of the Advisory Board to wait on the Council and find out more particulars. r The subscription list was handed in and it was proposed and seconded that it be published in 'the Times. Mr Cannell’s donation of decoration paper, as used for the concert, was accepted with thanks.
