FRANKLIN V. RAY OF PEN I \

GAME ENDS IN A DRAW,

Franklin piay'ng against Bay of Plenty on the •Reumera hoi l.cv grounds last Friday had a draw. During the early stages of the game the van of the local team kept the others busy inside their own twentyfive and aggressive attacks frequently placed the’ Bay goal in jeopardy'. The defenders were penalised with a penalty corner, but they succeeded in breaking away and the position was practically reversed when they started a hot attack on the Franklin goal. The tension was relieved when one of the Franklin fpll-backs lifted one beautifully right over the heads of the Bay of Plenty forwards. Play went back again to the Bay of Plenty twenty-five, where a free hit for obstructions went to Franklin. A hit tc wing by one of the defending backs brought relief, but Franklin continued to assume the initiative, with the result that they got into the circle. Here, owing to some indecision, a good opportunity to score war lost. Another free hit for obstructions was given to Franklin. Before half time one of the Franklin men netted. On resumption they continued the aggressive, and a rush by the opposing forwards was nicely intercepted. Bay of Plenty made a good shot for the net after reaching the circle, but it was stopped by the goalie, and good play by the backs nullified the attack. However, another chance was obtained shortly afterwards, and T. Bennett scored a good goal for the Bay of Plenty team, and they were equal. After some good play along the line Bay began to press Franklin near their goal line and a penalty corner -was conceded. Franklin combined in a good attack for a finishing effort but nothing resulted. The game ended without further scoring.. Franklin 1, drew with Bay of Plenty, 1. Mr T. E. Skinner was referee.
