PREMIUM BONDS.
(To the Editor.)
Sir, —Your issue of the 26th ult. contains an intensely interesting article on premium bonds by “Don Quixote.” I hope, your readers have given the subject the consideration it deserves. It is not a form of investment that is clearly understood in New Zealand, and I trust “Don Quixote” will follow up with another even more explanatory article. The immorality of gambling is strongly condemned by our legislators. Is it gambling to invest in a premium bond, and not gambling for a soldier to ballot for a Crown section. Your readers’ views would be interesting also. Why may I. with the consent of the Government, put a pound on the tote, but not on a Tattersall sweep ?—I am, etc., *
