OBITUARY.
TORS. E. j. ■ ELLIOTT. Another of the early pioneers of Auckland, Mrs Elizabeth Jane Elliott, of Mount Eden, passed away at her residence last week at the ag£ of 78, Mrs Elliott arrived here with her husband in the ship Ganges in 1863, and settled, in the Waikato during the Maori war, in which her husband! took an active part. Subsequently they followed farming pursuits in Tuakau for 30 years. She leaves a large grown-up family of sons and! daughters, most of the sons being well known in cricket and football circles. Among the members of the family are the Rev. W. J. Elliott, of the Devonport Methodist Church, Messrs J. E. Elliott, headmaster of the Papakura Public School, B. E. Elliott, of the firm of Hutchinson Eros., and Thomas and Jacob of the Railway Department, Newman ket.
