BUCKLAND SCHOOL.

(To the Editor,)

Sir,'-—ln reply to Mr Neal’s letter re beautifying the Buckland school ground., To start with, I can assure Mr Neal that “Morepork” is a He in every sense of the word, and not a She as he supposed he might be. I may say that I very much dislike deception, and when he terms himself “Chairman of School Committee/’ when no such committee exists, I feel I am justified in speaking plainly. Now, to start with, I would advise Mr Neal that the less he says about the Buckland School I think the better, considering the years he has been connected with it. Nature provided a lovely site, and that is just as it is to-day. And now, when he sees my ten pound note is given to beautify Buckland, he has the nerve to ask that it be spent on the school ground. Well now, Mr Editor, if Mr Neal keeps in good health till I give him ten pounds for the Buckland School, under the present management, he will be very fortunate. I may say further, that I offered the School Committee, when it did exist, .£25 to beautify, on condition that the committee, and also the schoolmaster, clid likewise, but that did not appeal to them They put that far away G.od-help-us, look on, and said they could not afford it. And now, in conclusion, Mr Editor, I will make a sporting offer to Mr Neal, and that is, I will give a pound towards raising enough to pay his expenses so that he can go right into ■ the baekblocks and see ’ how the schools and grounds are kept, and he will also notice that the beys lift their caps when they meet their master in the street, a practice that is I not carried out in Buck-anti- —I am. j ' MOREPORK.
