LEWIS BOWL FINAL.
MISS M. PAYTON’S SUCCESS.
The monthly medal competition ia connection with the Auckland Ladies’ Golf Club was played at the Middlemore Links, Mange re, on Tuesday last. The best cards were :—Senjors, Miss M. 'Macfarlane, 100 gross, 19 . handicap, "81 net ; Miss M. Alison, 94 gross, 10 handicap, 84 net; Miss F. Payton, 93 gross, S handicap, 35 net; Miss .Hughes, 103 gross, 16 handicap, 87 net ; Miss N. MacCormick, 97 gross, 9 handicap, 88 net. Juniors : Miss M. Clark, 119 gross, 32 hand-i cap, 87 net; Miss M, Heliaby, 111 gioss, 24 handicap, 87 net.. j ,'
The Lewis rose bowl final has been played, and resulted in Miss, M. Payton defeating Miss K. Holmes, 3 up» and 2to play. This is the third time Miss Payton has won the bowl", since it was first contested for in 1915.
The second round for Miss M.. Payton’s prize was also played on Tuesday. It resulted: Miss F. Heliaby. beat Miss J. Reid, 4 up and 2to play ; Miss B. Wilson beat Miss M. Clark, 2 up and 1 to play; Miss D. Foster beat Mrs Macindoe, 7 up, and 6 to play 1 ; Miss Lonesson beat Mrs Fenton, 6 up and 5 to play.

The Pukekohe golf course was greatly congested for play on Saturday last. , Im addition to the July, competition, several of the spoons matches were played. Thirtyeight members were present on the links and if such enthusiasm continues the club will be faced with the question ,of lengthening the course b y several holes. The medal match resulted in ,a tie, . Messrs Jones. and Hopkinfe brothers all holing out in 79 net. Mrs Motion won the ladies match and two of the spoons matches. Brosnahan v. Roulston and Dr Campbell-Smith v. Bayly were drawn and will have to, be replayed. The uniformity in the results of the last few matches reflects credit on the handicapper and has had the result of bringing several of the junior members into the limelight. y Retailed results are as follows:
