THE BLIND ROAD AT GLENBROOK
Sir, —The report in the Times of the deputation from the Waiuku Ridding Ratepayers’ Association is sufficient to lead ratepayers to wonder where they come in. That ratepayers should be refused permission to see the minutes, which the law provides shall be at their disposal during officehours, makes one fear that all can not be well. That they should be told it was no concern of theirs how the ratepayers’ money was spent makes one wonder whether ratepayers have any -rights beyond that of providing the money for payment of the salaries of county officials. The matter can scarcely remain where it is. If Hhe. allegations made by Messrs Withair, and Williams are correct, and apparently they are not denied, the next scene in the drama ought to be the Magistrate’s Court. If -they ard| \not correct, Messrs Witham and Williams should make an explicit apology. The matter can not be left where it is with credit either to the County Council or the Waiuku Ratepavers’ Association. —I am, etc., ARGUS.
