The Dandies will appear in the Premier Hall on Monday evening. The hail was booked at short notice, but everyone knows the Dandies and a packed house is assured.
“Hearts of .Oak:” will be produced in the Bombay Hall on Tuesday evening next in aid of the Technical High School funds.
To-morrow at 1 p.m. the MilkingShorthorn and combined breeders will hold a meeting in the A. and P. Buildings, Pukekohe, to go into the matter of arranging a pedigree sale.
On Sunday morning the members of the local Orange Lodge will attend service in the Methodist Church. The sermon will be delivered by tthe Rev. J. Olphert.

On Monday, July 14, the Premier Players and friends will tender a concert at Tuakau in the Picture Hall in aid K)f the funds of the Tuakau C.E. Ladies’ Guild. The concert will be followed by a supper and dance.
A commencement has jbeen made for the opening up of the Mercer quarry. At the next meeting of the Franklin County Council the engineer wil! Submit a full report on the matter.
“ The time is coming, and very shortly, when the Government will have to corae to some finality regarding the main roads of the Dominion, possibly it will be next year,” said Cr. Wilcox at yesterday’s meeting of the Franklin County Council.
The public meeting in connection with the formation of a Beautifying Society and Arts and Crafts for Pukekohe will be held in the Masonic Hall on Wednesday, July 13, at 8 p.i’m. It is earnestly, desired that a large attendance will be present.
There is at present on view in Mr G. H. Armstrong’s tobbaconist’s window, the challenge shield, presented bj Mr F. W. Gardes to the Franklin Rugby Union for competition between the senior football teams in Franklin. Full particulars will appear in a later issue.
At yesterday’s meeting of the Franklin County Council, Cr* Wilcox moved that the Council extends its best wishes tp Mr F. H. Brittain, inspector of stock, who has retired on superannuation from the Stock Department, after a service of 30 years, fie added that during the time Mr Brittain was controlling this district he had been a thoroughly capable and zealous officer. The motion was carried.
A most successful social dnd dance was held in the Oddfellows’ Hall on Tuesday evening by Mr F. Stembridge. There was a record attendance, the dancing arena being totally inadequate to accommodate all trippers of the light fantastic. Excellent music was supplied by Mrs J. Harriman, while extras were contributed by Miss I. Fulton. The. duties of M.C. were efficiently discharged by Mr .S. Clews. Supper .was handed round and duly appreciated. The next social will be held shortly.

Prior to the commencement of the ordinary business at yesterday’s meeting of the Franklin County Council, feeling reference was made concerning the death of the late Mr J- A. Renall. It was stated that deceased was one of the first members of the Council and his decease was a distinct loss to the Awhitu riding. The following resolution was carried, members standing, on the motion of Crs. Wilcox and Mellsop: “That this Council records its sense of the valuable public services rendered to Awhitu riding and Franklin County by the late Mr Joseph Alfred Renall for many years a member of the Council and tenders to his widow and family the assurance of its deepest sympathy with them in their sad bereavement.”
