BILLIARDS AND SNOOKER MATCH.

—— WAHJKU V. PUKEKOHE. V SOME INTERESTING CONTESTH. Following the usual custom of some years’ standing, nine billiard and snooker players, representing Mr' Geo H Armstrong’s Pukekohe billiard saloon, journeyed to Waiuku on Wednesday evening to meet a team froujthe Waiuku Club. There was a i'airp large attendance and a most enjjfyable evening’s sport took place. The visitors were hospitably entertained by the home players and on their behalf, Mr George Armstrong, manager of the team, returned thanks and extended an invitation to the home team to play a return match. Cheers were given for the respective teams. Most of the games were evenly contested. The best game of the evening was between Jas. Blake and Dr. Howden, both players being seen right out. The home man established a good lead at the commencement, but the visitor stuck to his rival and was defeated by the narraw margin of 17 points. Pukekohe received a sound beating as far as billiards were concerned, but the visitors predominated in the snooker games. Results are as follows: —

BILLIARDS. Waiuku. Pukekohe. Dr. Howden 200 beat J. Blake 183. W. G., Pleydell 200 beat W, Butler 70, H. M. Barriball 200 beat O. Short 116, J. McGuire 182 lost to F. H. Hewitt 200. SNOOKER,

A. Christiansen 88 lost to H. B. Gribble 112. W. Clarke beat T. L.; Maxwell 94. E. Christiansen 117 beat L. Short 94. G. V. Williams 87 lost to F. Duncan 114. W. McEwen 73 lost to

Geo. H. Armstrong 128,

Totals: Billiards—Waiuku 782, Pukekohe 569; Snooker—Waiuku 468. Pukekohe 542. On the aggregate Waiuku. won by 139 points. It is expected that the return match will take place on Wednesuay, July 29.
