TUAKAU’S FINANCIAL POSITION .
ABSOLUTELY SOUND. . * k Wi - “There is not a local body in the Auckland Province, in a sounder fin-r, ancial position than tthe Tuakau Town Board,” said Mr Dynes Fulton, chairman of that body, at TuesaayV meeting. The Board had no financial' commitments, but it could do with money to carry out various works. Considering the Board commenced operations since the war started with no money at all, an,d it had to borrow, it was in a very sound position. There had been no extravagance on the Board’s part at any time since its inception. They were in a position that they cculd fulfil their ob- . ligations to complete work they had their eye on, and could carry on until , the next rates were collected. They had passed through difficult times when wages were exceptionally high, also the extremely high price of horse feeJ and materials, and when very little money was coming in. They had a good deal to do and like other local bodies, would have to feel their way and adopt a “go-slow” policy until the money market was easier, All summed up they were in a good financial position.
