NEW BRIDGE WANTED.

AT FOOT OF KING STREET. '^l ■ ■■■ PIxANS AND ESTIMATES OF COST REQUIRED. r For some considerable time thk Borough Council has been hammering away at the authorities with a view of having an overhead traffic bridge ove.y the railway line erected at titii foot' of Kjng Street, while others ; have been urging that the present bridge be widened. The latter work , was hung up owing to a telegraph pole carrying the borough’s electric wires being in the line of the pro^, posed widening. However, arrangements have been made for the CooJfc* cil toi remove the electric wires, while the Post and Telegraph Department, intend removing the pole. In a .very short time it is qxpeeted the widening of the structure will be put into, operation. From tfhe time the matter was first mooted, Cr. Patterson has- advocated the erection of a bridge at the foot of King Street, but the Railway department, at the present at any rate, does not see its way clear to erect the structure. At last night’s meeting of tfce Council, Cr. Patterson moved that the Railway Department be asked to supply a plan and estimates of cost of an overhead bridge at the foot of King Street. Cr., Kennedy second and the motion was carried.
