AM UNQUALIFIED SUCCESS.. On the 22nd June last, the No 3 troop R Squadron, 3rd (Auckland) Mounted Rifles, held their annual military ball in the Puni Hall- This function proved to be one of the best ever held in the district. The hall was tastefully decorated with flags and evergreens and was packed to its uttermost. The grand march, led by Captain Henry and Mrs Henry, was annonuced at 8 p,m. sharp, when about sixty couples promenaded the room. The floor was in its usual good condition, while capital music was supplied by Miss Iris Fulton (piano), Mr Deed (violin) and Mr Salter (comet) and several extras were played. The duties of M.’sC. were efficiently performed by Messrs O. Fulton, N. Hunter and G. McAlpine. An excellent supper was supplied ?and everybody spent an enjoyable evening’s entertainment From a social and financial standpoint the ball was an unqualified success and for this the energetic secretary, Mr G. McAlpine, deserves great credit. With his committee they did not leave a stone unturned to make the bail the great success it was.
