SEAUTIFYING SOCIETY.
(To the Editor.)
Sir, -I note with great the letters appearing in your paper about forming' a Beautifying Society in Pukekohe* which, I earnestly trust will soon be an established fact. But ' w hat struck me as being a bit comi- : ca i W ere two letters appearing in your paper from Buckland residents offering advice over the fence toPukekohe and Buckland in the state ' it is. Oh,, dear, I suppose it is human i na ture. We can always see plenty of • dirt on other people’s doorstep but ; never think to sweep our own. f'just look at the surroundings /of our two churches, then go into our . school ground and have a slide in the mud hole in the middle of the school playground, if you haven’t got to wash your own clothes. Pause, in front of our monument and think what it 'fas erected for; not forgetting to look at our bowling green site and last but not least the tennis art Take care when on the tennis !Lrt not to fall over a tar barrel. I uL&rd for a fact that a visitor got rl fc | n the paspalum at a match and ould have perished only she came a tar barrel and seven kerosene ?L and by placing them on too of Z7h other was able to see Allans Zd seed store. Well, now, Mr EdiS °H?as we have one gentleman in * ol T lan d with the knowledge of how + >£&utify and the other with a fair ■Jlit of Scotch caution, or whatm° r v ou choose to call it, if they m start a Beautifying Society in Backend, I am prepared on condithat they do likewise, to give £lO 1 A al c o take my coat off and work. 5" d . wi n help Pukekohe more than a J he letters they could write and al ! they could give.—l am. etc , advice tn y MOREPORK
