FOOTBALL REPORTS
(To the Editor.)
Sir, —I would like to correct one or two mis-statements which appear in the report of the Pukekohe v. Onewhero junior match. Presuming that the account of the match was written by the Times official reporter, I may say that I had no conversation whatever with him after the match, and so could not and did 1 not make the admission he claims.. As for apologising to Fulton, I had nothing to apologise for. I felt and still feel that the player who carried the ball over the line was “off-side,” hence the free kick awarded to Onewhero. To use the words of your reporter. “Any oneeyed man” can see that the report is written from a biassed standpoint. One side only played good football — the other, because of their superior weight and with the help of the referee, managed to secure a lucky win. It would be better for football in the Franklin district if reports of matches gave credit where credit is due.
In conclusion, I would like to say that my decision in the above match appeared to give satisfaction to the Pukekohe team and their manager, Mr Hogan, who voiced no protest to me regarding them.—l am, etc.,
A, B FLOYD
