ENTERTAINMENTS.

STRATA© THEATRE. SATURDAY NIGHT. ? “HONOUR BOUND.” Jacques Jaccdrd, cinema chemist, making “Honour Bound” his test tube in the laboratory of life-as-it-might-be, transplants two men from civilisation to savagery, adds equal- portions of liquor and tropical inertia* The result will be seen to-morrow night at the Strand Theatre. Lrank Mayo is the star in Jaccard’s story, which Jaccard also directed for Universal. The role is one calling for intense dramatic effort, and although the ation occure within a space of one year, Mayo uses three separata make-ups in his three characterisatioins, in one part. First he is thedl vapid college boy; then, banished ttt South America because of a dangerous prank, he speedily hardens awl enters into the spirit pf work; finally face to face with a primitive experience, he reverts to type—‘‘the throwback”—displaying the savage in* stincts of his ancient ancestors..

Jacard in his story advances the* theory that morality is only a matter |of geography, and that environment are heredity and stronger factors in !a man’s life than his will power. Whether or not we can agree with him. we must admit, he has written a highly dramatic story to support his contentioins, and that it is BO less fascinating as pure fiction because he has infused in little psychological propaganda. .

The star item is . supported by “The Black Circle,” a picture, that will keep any audience n tenterhooks.
