STRIKING OF THE RATE.
OVER ffIANUKAU COUNTY. The following rates were struck over the respective ridings at Tuesday’s meeting of the Manukau County Council:—
Mangere Riding: New valuation, £1,083,224; credit balance April 1, 1921 ?4 £1162 6s 7d; rate levied last year 1 Rod in the £ realised £3811; a rate of 15-16 d in the £ was levied,. Interest on Mangere bridges £15,000 and £ISOO and bridge approach improvement loan £2OOO and Mangere roads loans £IO,OOO to be met out of riding fund this year totalling £1769 lbs.
Pakuranga Riding: New valuation* £482,580; debit balance April .1, 1921, £IBBO 4s lid Rate levied last year by county in the £ Pakuranga and and in the £ on. Paparoa, £1587 l£s 9d Rates levied by Road Boards: Pakuranga, %d, £552 2s; Howick tqwnship. %d, £232 6s Gd; Paparoa,. %d, £9f 12s 3d; total £876 0s 9d Total rate collected, £2463 19s 6d A rate of 13/idl 3 /id in the ‘ £ was struck. Interest on Panmure / bridge loans to be met, £4OO.
Papakura Riding: New valuation, £569,330; debit balance, April I, 1921, £431 8s 4d. Rate levied last year, excluding portion put. into the Papatoetoe riding, £1675 15s sd. A rate qf %d in the £ was struck , ■, Papatoetoe Riding: New valuation, £1,074,313; debit balance April 1, 1921, county £676 13s 3d. Road Board £lO9 10s 4d;- total £786 3s 7d. Rates levied last year: Riding, 5:1571 9s 4d; portion Papakura riding taken in, Id, £649 11s Sd: East Tamnki Road Board,£looß 15s; total rates collected £3229 16s A rare of ; ,' 4 d irv the £ was struck
Turanga Hiding. New valuation, £197,825; debit balance April 1, 1921, £474 3s lid. Rates levied last year Turanga road district and MaVaetai only, Mod, £758 3s 4d. A rate of Id in the £ was levied.
Wairoa Riding: Present valuation, £597,353; debit balance April 1, 1921, £1365 Is 8d Rate levied last year 1 l-3d realised £3222 14s ,lbd A rate of 1 l-3d in the £ was struck.
It was also decided to strike a rate of l-5d in the £ over the whole county as a hospital rate.
