DRURY.
On Monday, May 27, a large number of residents of Drury and the surround ire’ districts assembler at the Public Hall for a farewell to Mr and Mrs H. Kimber, w’o arc leaving Drury to take up their abode i; Christchurch. A very enjoyable crncert of songs, recitations and musical items was rendered by Mrs H. King and the Misses 0. Ballard, McNaughton, J. Bremner and Messrs King and Green. Rev. Wood, of Papakura. spoke of the good work Mr and Mrs Kimber had done in the district and presented Mrs Kimber with a handbag and Mr Kimber with a case of pipes and a travelling rug, and on behalf of those present wished them much happiness and prosperity in their new sphere of life. After partaking of a good supper, a nice dance brought a very pleasant evening to a close.
The following Monday the clearing sale at Mr Kimber’s house at Runcini!in was very largely attended, buyers being present from all parts of the surrounding country. The Government pig expert and instructor, Mr K. W. Gorringe, gave a very interesting and instructive lecture in the Drury Hall on Tuesday, June 1, on the science of pig breeding and feeding and gave much good advice to the small number of farmers present, but as a full reprint of the lecture has appeared in the Times your many readers who were not able to be present can get a good grasp of the subject. The rain is making the paddocks quite green and the roads very muddy.
