PERSONAL.

Mrs King, wife of Mr Max D. King* of Manurewa, is at present an inmate of the Auckland Hospital. She underwent a critical operation last week, but latest advice is to the effect that she is progressing satisfactorily. Mr J. P. McArthur. engineer to the Franklin County Council, who some time ago accepted an appointment as engineer to the Public Works Department, under H.M. Government of Fiji, has now definitely decided not tot go to Fiji. When Mr McArthur tendered his resignation to the Franklin County Council, the latter body would not accept it and requested him to reconsider his decision. Mr McArthur did this and has .decided to remain in the employ of the Council. In view of the extensive works in hand by tthe Council and Mr McArthur’s genera! knowledge of the- county, this v/as a stop in the right direction.
