MANUKAU COUNTY COUNCIL.

ANNUAL MEETING. CR. A. D. BELL RE-ELECTED CHAIRMAN. The annual meeting of the Manukau County Council was held on Wednesday. when there were present: Crs. A. D. Bell, S. W l . House, F. M. Waters, J M t Davies, A. E. Hattaway, S. A. Browne, F. Grainger, the clerk (Mr Edgar Ashcroft), and the engineer (Mr W J. Lopdell). According to the old Act of Parliament, the statutory meetings xof County Councils took place in November, but the newly framed Act provides that these annual meetings should take place in May, six months ahead. In consequence thereof the chairman's annual report was not presented, it only * being six months since he was elected. The clerk took the chair and called for nominations for the position of chairman.
