WATER SUPPLY PROGRESS.

EN GIXEER'S REPORT. The progress made of the water reticulation scheme during- the past Tortnight was reported on at Monday's meeting of the Papakura Town Board by the Board’s engineer as follows :- - Pipes have been laid on the following streets : Onslow Road, from Opaheke Road to the railway, and from Marne Road (south end), Opaheke P.oad from Onslow Road to Liverpool Street. King Edward Street south from Onslow Road, Chape! Street from Marne Road to Railway, and two side streets off Opaheke Road—a total of 5980 feet. In addition, twenty-two house connections were laid from the mains tc; the boundaries, using 495 feet of pipes. The work proposed for the next fortnight comprises the laying of 2-inch pipes in Opaheke Road from Liverpool Street to the boundary, and I d inch pipes in Smith’s Avenue from Settlement Road to Mrs Lynch’s. Neither of these lengths were shown on the plan, and they now asked for the Board’s approval. They anticipated the reticulation of the southern end of the town would be completed before the end of the month, and a start would then be made with laying the cast-iron pipes in Great South Road and Queen Street, and wrought iron pipes in Young’s Road, Wood Street and Green Street.

In connection, with the matter of Laying, pipes in Smith’s Avenue, Messrs McLennan and Weir were authorised to inspect and report on at next meeting. The report was received.
