LOCAL INDUSTRY AND SUPPORT.

(To the Editor).

Sir, —As a visitor to your beautiful little town, there is one thing that struck me very forcibly and that is the people who are living and making a living in the town do not patronise local industries as they should. I find local people get most of their drapery and othdr* necessities from town establishments instead of patronising local tradespeople. I also notice at the Winter Show that the authorities sent out of town for aerated waters and confectionery. I have been informed that the same could have been obtained cheaper, quicker and quite as good in your cwn town. Trusting someone who knows more of local conditions would take this matter up as it seems to be grossly unfair to the local people who pay" high rates and otherwise contribute to the upkeep of the town. —I am, etc, A VISITOR.
