STRAND PICTURES. FRIDAY, MAY 6h. To-night, at the Strand Theatre, Jean Le Roi, the world-famous magician and illusionist, will present his first entertainment here in conjunction with an excellent picture programme. Our contemporaries give Kim great praise, and the reports are quite flattering, so we are expecting something out of the ordinary. As a magician and illusionist 1 e stands alone as pre-eminent in the world of magic without apparatus, confederates, or assistants. He works his wonderful mysterious and uncanny effects, depending on his own dexerity for carrying out each item successfully. He is said to be arf entertainer of outstanding merit, and presents his entertainment in a style entirely all his own. Le Roi is a masterful and mysterious performer, with an inborn faculty to dispel gloom. Everyone should endeavour to see and hear this wonderful artist, and a treat is promised. The price of admission is as usual. • SATURDAY. MAY 7th. “MARKED MEN.” The story in connection with the above picture reads : “Harry and his pals are serving time in prison under suspicion of being implicated in a train robbery. A desperate attempt to break gaol is effective, and after a thrilling ride across country and running battles with prison guards they separate and meet againj Infer in a Western camp. The picture is exciting, and a good story is unfolded
