A JERSEY BREEDERS' SALE.
At the meeting of the Jersey Breeders’ Association held on Saturday, 23rd inst.. Mr R. F. Wilkinson brought up the question of an annual sale. He stated that the sale last year had been a great success. There were many details to no arranged, but he thought that the secretary should be instructed to write members and ask them to get their cattle ready for a sale at the end of September, also that the advisability of having all their cattle trained to lead should be urged on members. He also expressed the hope that members would reserve all their cattle for the annual sale and not offer any privately. By so doing they would raise the standard of their sales. In some parts of New Zealand these annual breeders’ sales were looked on as cull sales, as breeders only offered what thev could not dispose of privately. When such an impression got around it was hard to combat and did a lot of harm. Mr J. Fulton considered that they should call a meeting at an early date in order to consider the question of the annual sale. After further discussion the secretary was instructed to write breeders on the lines suggested by Mr Wilkinson.
