To-night, in the Premier Hall, Mr John Routlv will address the burgesses of Pukekohe and answer all critics.
Messrs Dell and Son advertise a fine of horse covers at a cut rate for cash.
The Mauku branch of the N.Z. Farmers’ Union will be held at Patumahoe on Tuesday evening next at 8 p.m, There will be a total eclipse of the moon between 6 and 7 p.m. next Friday, April 22. It will be visible in New Zealand. The results of the local municipal elections on Wednesday will be announced from the stage at the Premier Hall by the English Pierrots Company.
.Record of rainfall as registered at Victoria Avenue, Waiuku, during March. Rain fell on 15 days, the fall varying from .Olin to .58in and totalling 1.82 in. For corresponding month in 1916, 1917, 1918, 1919, and 1920 the register shows 2.03, 3.21, 3.66, 2.41 and 2.73 in respectively.
A tug-of-war match for £SO will be held at the Roman Catholic Bazaar. Pukekohe, to-morrow (Saturday) night, commencing at S p.m., between the Pukekohe and Panmure representatives. It is reported that both teams are fairly level so a keen contest is anticipated.
The post and telegraph office will be closed on Monday, April 25, Anzac Day. The telephone exchange will be open from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. only. Mails for despatch on Monday will close on Saturday at 8 p.m. All pillar boxes will be cleared, at 7.30 p.m. A counter delivery of correspondence will take misce on Saturday between 7 and 8
On Sunday the anniversary of the local Methodist Sunday school will be celebrated. In addition to the special hymns by scholars and choir. Miss and Mr -Howard Hunter will sing at the afternoon service. Both are fine vocalists. The three services will be conducted by Rev. W. T. Hooper, Mr. J. Hunter and Rev. J. Olphert, morning, afternoon and evening respectively. An entertainment will take place on Tuesday evening.
On Sunday evening the census was taken. Many people found the official document that had to be signed somewhat ''bewildering as a mass of information was sought. The questions ranged from correct age—a delicate question for some of the fairer sexto the quantity of male and female fowls and quantity of beehives. To some people the poultry query constituted quite a problem and necessitated in some instances a search by night by candle light.
