PAPAKURA TOWN BOARD.
LAST MIGHT’S MEETING. The usual meeting of the Papakura Town Board was held last evening when there were present: Messrs S. Evans (chairman), E. D. McLennan, T. D. Campbell, J. Rea, J. R. Wilson, Weir, and the clerk (Mr A. L. Cooper). Onslow Road, Drain. Mr. F. Roberts wrote drawing the Board's attention to the road drain on Onslovt' road which in flood time took the water on to his property, thus depreciating the value of the land.. —Referred to the Works Committee to deal with. Subsidy for Park. The Commissioner of Crown Lands, North Auckland, intimated that the subsidy of £SOO promised by the Prime Minister during the election campaign towards the acquirement of a park for Papakura, would be available as soon as the title was completed and conveyed to the Department. The clerk reported that the transfer was complete and had. been forwarded.—-Received. Finance. The clerk presented the monthly statement of accounts which showed that the overdraft at the bank was £798 Is 7%d, The other accounts £7196 Is The other. accounts were all shown in credit, so that the boat'd is only paying interest on a debit balance of £3Ol 5s sd. ihe chaiarman urged the Board to go slow until the next year’s rates were, collected. Accounts were passed for payment as Follows:—£ls4 13s 9d general account, £247 Is lOd road loan account, and £2235 8s 2d water loan account. Street Lights. The Works Committee was instructed to make arrangements for lighting the street lamps.
