NOTHING FURTHER DONE. I AN INCREASED OFFER. i. At the usual meeting of the Bor,ough Council on Wednesday night, Cr A. P. Daysn reported that ne and Cr McGough had interviewed the owner of land required for a road to ‘connect the subway with Manukau road. Councillors contended that it was an unwise itep to proceed under the Public Works Act. a view the Mayor concurred with.
Cr Hamilton said that whoever lost or won the case if it went to Court it would cost them something. He moved that the Council increase the oiler from £2oo to £3OO for the necessary land, without prejudice. Cr Patterson suggested referring the matter to the incoming Council to deal with.
The Mayor and Councillors pointed out that they had pledged themselves to have a road made and it would have to be done.
Cr McGough seconded the motion, which was carried. Cr Patterson dissenting.
