LAWN TENNIS.

On Saturday, April 2, a team from Buckland met the Mauku fceam on the latter’s courts. On arrival at about 1.30 a little light refreshment was partaken of and play was then commenced and carried on until about 5 p.m. Although there were some very close games, the visitors proved superior in all departments, winning by 54 games. The scores were as follows Buckland players appearing first in each case:—

| Ladies’ Doubles. —Mrs Bilkey and Miss Leighton beat Mrs Zinzan and Miss Wright, 7—4; Miss Allen and Mrs Greenway beat Mrs Hill and Miss Zinzan, 7—4. Gent.’s Doubles.—Leighton and W. Bilkey beat Gillon and Ward 7—3; L. Bilkey and Mathews beat Hill and Hogwood, 7—3; Wily and Neal beat Wilson and Hutchinson, 7—3. Combined Doubles.—Mrs Bilkey and Leighton lost to Mrs Zinzan ajid Gillon, 5—7; Miss Leighton and W. Bilkey beat Miss Wright and Ward, 7—4; Miss Allen and L. Bilkey beat Mrs Hill and Hill, 7—3; Mrs Greenway and Mathews beat Miss Zinzan and Hogwood, 7—4; Miss Horne and Wily lost to Miss Moor and Wilson, 6—7; Miss Wily and Neal, lost to Miss Whitehead and Hutchinson, 3—7.

Ladies’ Singles.—Mrs Bilkey beat Mvs Zinzan, 7—o.

Gent/s Singles.—W. Bilkey beat Ward, 7—l; L. Bilkey beat Hill, 7—5; Mathews beat Hogwood, 7—6.
