A native called upon us, says the Waikato Times, and complained that he had been refused a shave in a local hair-dressing saloon, the only reason being given that natives were barred. Our informant, who is a returned soldier, and feels the matter keenly, says that he went to the front under “the impression that Maori and pakeha were one and he warmly resents the inference that though they were permitted to fight side by side for King and country they are not fit to be shaved in the same establishment. The embargo is not general, as our informant says he was shaved in another saloon. A Masterton lady has just presented her husband with the third set of twins. Apropos of this comes a prediction from an American paper that the country will be flooded with twins, triplets and quadruplets during the next six years. Professor C. Kirschoff, a Milwaukee astrologer, states that the conjunction of certain stars with the new moon shows conclusively that the world will be start]rd bv the fecundity of all human races, during the next four years especially. The premises on which these conclusions are founded, he said, were laid down by the ancients. Professor Kirschofl" sisid he sometime ago gave up his contracting business, and now devotes bis entire time to study of the stars in the attic of his home at Milwaukee,
