THE SILENT DIVISION.

(By A.J.R.) The Silent Division! Immortal their fame! Far uttermost ages Their deeds shall acclaim! No arrogant boasting^ No vain idle speech; No vulgar self-vaunting, Their accents shall teach. For deeds of proud valour, Let Filers tell the tale; Blood-sodden jMessines, And fell Paschendaele. As chaff to the whirlwind, As reeds to the gale. Destruction and terror Smite where they assail. The Silent Division, In silence disband; Their work it is finished, Rad war stays its hands. Transmitted to ages, Their record proud reads: Their name —“it was valour!” Their language—“ was deeds!”
