WEDDING BELLS.

BURTON—PIKETT. The wedding of Miss Doris Pikett and Mr Walter Burton, eldest son of Mr Joseph Burton, of Papatoetoe, was celebrated on Tuesday last at the chapel of the Orphan Home. The bride, who entered the chapel to the strains 'of the “Wedding March,” played by Miss Burnside, was daintily attired in cream satin, with veil and orange blossoms, while she carried a beautiful white bouquet. She was attended by Miss Violet Gregory, as bridesmaid, who was dressed in lemon-coloured crepe de chine, and carried a beautiful bouquet of pink asters. Mr Albert Burton was best n\an. The bride was given away by her uncle, Mr John W. Andrew, of Auckland, whilst the Rev. Davis performed the ceremony. As the happy couple walked out of the chapel the children of the Orphan Home lined up and showered confetti on them. The reception was given in the dining room of the Home, Mr Andrew providing for the guests. He also supplied a treat for the children, are filled to the satisfaction of everyone the position of host, while Mrs Andrew was hostess for the wedding. She was dressed in navy blue silk and a feather boa. The bride’s aunt, Matron of the Orphanage, looked very well in her dress of black georgette, with a bouquet of purple asters. Altogether there was an attendance of about seventy guests, the majority of whom were relatives of the bride. A number speeches were made by those present, and it was a merry couple that left late for Auckland. On Wednesday they went by the Rotorua express to Rotorua, where they will stay at the Grand Hotel. They will be away for about two weeks.

As this was the first wedding that was celebrated in the chapel since it was built, the bride was presented with a Bible from the Orphan Home Trust Board. The 'couple received, in addition, many valuable and useful presents. ,
