MANUREWA TOWN BOARD.
LAST NIGHT’S MEETING. The usual meeting of the Manurewa Town Board was held last evening, when there were present: Messrs T. J. Cronin (chairman), C. H. Lupton, Max D. King Gallagher Smith and the clerk (Mr H Kay). An apology for absence was received from Mr. Cox. Vipond Road. It was decided to fence the property acquired from Mr Vipond for road purposes. Noxious Weeds Nuisance. The clerk reported that he had forwarded a list of names of property owners, with noxious weeds on their properties to the inspector, but so far nothing had been done. He reported having written the inspector urging him to take action. Warmly Appreciated. In reply to the Board’s letter containing a copy of resolution passed at last meeting with reference to the Prime Minister’s approaching visit to the Imperial Conference, Mr. Massey asked the clerk to convey to the members of the Board his sincere thanks for the kindly sentiments contained in the resolution, which were warmly appreciated. Russell Road. The clerk reported that he had applied for the Government grant of £IOO for Russell Road. Anzac Day. Messrs Lupton and King were appointed a'‘Sub-cdmmittee to make arrangements for the comm em mo ration of Anzac Day. ManureWc Early History. The Chief Postmaster, Auckland, acknowledged receipt of an interest- • ing account of the early history of MaflUrewa from Mr C. H. Lupton. ........ Tenders. Three tenders were received for the erection' of two five-roomed cottages and conveniences for the Board’s workmen. The tender of Messrs Palmer and Petersou at £1960 was accepted. The unsuccessful tenders were for £1975 arjd £2098. Accounts* Accounts amounting to £64 4s 9d were submitted, approved of and passed for payment.
