PRESENTATION.

A pleasing function was held oa Thursday night last, when the many friends of Mr D. Syme gathered to wish him farewell on the occasion of his leaving this town to take up a new position in Auckland. After the supper interval, when the usual toasts were honoured, Mr Syme was presented with a handsome travelling bag, suitably inscribed. Dancing was then indulged in, and after the rendering of several musical items by members of the company, the gathering terminated by the singing of “Auld Lang Syne”.
