Prior to the commencement of the ordinary business at the meeting of the Franklin A, and P. Society last week, a vote of condolence with th* relatives of the late Mr George Woods was carried in silence, member* standing. .

It is rumoured that Mr Joha Routly, architect, of Auckland, will be a candidate for the Mayoralty at the forthcoming Municipal elections. If this is correct, there will be & triangular contest between K. Lawrie (retiring Mayor), H. G.' R» Mason (e*-Mapor), and J. Routly.
