DARE-DEVIL MOTOR CYCLISTS.

COMPLAINT FROM MANGERE. EXCESSIVE SPEED ALLEGED. ACTION TO BE TAKEN. Motor cyclists evidently sort out the bes pieces of the road in the country on which to try out their machines. At the* meeting of the Manukau County Council on Tuesday a complaint regarding the excessive speed of motor cycles and motor cars on McKenzie xoad, Mangere, was received from eleven ratepayers of the road in question. The complainants asked that steps be taken to curtail the speed of the vehicles using the road. It was pointed out that the ispeed at which they travel made it dangerous to residents using the thoroughfare. It had been a regular practice for motor cyclists to assemble on the road each Sunday and carry out speed trials. Apart from the annoyance of the noise and the damage done to the road,, the speed obtained was so great that the vicinity was very unsafe for children.

Councillors contended the by-laws should be enforced, and eventually; it was decided to refer the complaint to the police for their assistance.
